2007
image design custom was born
Tom and Steve’s world collided when they worked at a paint shop called Altamura Concepts. Steve was paint shop manager and Tom was freelance airbrushing and custom painting for them. Later that year they decided to join forces and go it alone, IDC was created.
2008
the reputation gets built
After running IDC for just over a year, word gets out about the high quality of work being produced under the IDC banner. Sykes Harley-Davidson starts using IDC to create mouth-watering paintwork to mirror their insane bike builds.
2010
art is not some fun 'add-on' to life
Contemporary artist Grayson Perry CBE RA commissions IDC to paint his first of 4 bikes, with a striking build from Battastini’s UK. IDC wins its first World Championship at Sturgis Bike week with Sykes Harley-Davidson taking top honours with their build 'Strike True II'. This was the first time the title had ever come back to Europe and put both Sykes and IDC firmly on the map for custom motorcycles.
2011
on to the world stage
Through Sykes Harley-Davidson, IDC paint a super custom build for Bell & Ross watches featuring a timepiece integrated into the fuel tank. Drift King and Gymkhana legend Ken block caught a ride with this very bike at the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed.
2012
conquering the US
IDC invited by Harley-Davidson to join selected artists from around the world to commission and paint 2 tanks to be put into the Harley-Davidson Art of Custom exhibition in Miami.

painting for legends
MTB legend Steve Peat asks IDC to paint a 20 a custom Santa-Cruz frame for the Mountain Bike World Championships and to commemorate his 20th year as part of Team GB. We also painted Paralympian Jody Cundy and comedian Adam hills prosthetic legs, with both getting plenty of visibility on national television.

painting with added nitro
Harley-Davidson Europe approach IDC to take over their warranty work for factory paint discrepancies across the UK & Europe. At the same time, IDC take on a contract with Travis Pastrana's Nitro Circus tour, to paint all their athlete helmets worldwide.

Sykes Harley-Davidson's side division, Speed & Custom commissions IDC to paint a bike for six times British Superbike Champion Shane 'Shakey' Byrne.
2014
a new home for idc
Busting at the seams, IDC moved into new premises with a bespoke interior, to suit the ever-increasing workload coming through the workshop and this would be the home of IDC for the next 6 years.

pushing the right buttons
After settling into the new premises, Warrs Harley-Davidson commissioned us to paint a classic McLaren inspired bike for British Formula 1 legend and 2009 F1 World Champion, Jenson Button.

Jay Leno's garage
Famed bike customiser Roland Sands came to us to paint one of the first BMW RnineT’s with a special paint scheme, which was featured in Jay Leno’s garage.

Warrs Harley-Davidson wins the annual Harley-Davidson 'King of Kings' customisation competition, with all 3 winning bikes featuring fully customised designs by Image Design Custom.

gold in rio
After painting a prosthetic leg for Paralympian Jody Cundy in 2012, we created a pirate-themed design for Jody's Rio bid. The design channelled Jody towards success at the Rio Games, where he won gold in the 1,000m time trial on and set a world record in the team sprint to earn a second gold.

superhero paint for superman
Arai UK came to us to paint a DC comics-inspired helmet for none other than the actual Superman, Henry Cavill.

After the success of submissions of a custom build into the US, we took our customisation skills into Asia with some bespoke paintwork submitted to the Mooneyes Hot Rod & Custom show in Yokohama Japan.

Triumph Motorcycles came to us to paint 2 bikes for the drummer of legendary US Rock band Green Day, further adding to the names of famous celebrities who have had some IDC customisation magic.

Harley-Davidson asks IDC to design and paint 30 limited edition FXRD’s, that got a fully bespoke marketing campaign that lead to all 30 bikes being sold out straight away.
